One simple principle will save you from much trouble and frustration, here it is:

Regarding all things that pertain to faith and practice in the Christian life, and that pertain to living a life that is pleasing to God, if something is not found in the Bible, forget it. Don't believe it!  In other words if the Bible doesn't teach it, reject it. And, if something is not specifically found in the New Testament, certainly don't practice it. It's that simple.

Clever men make up all kinds of rules and regulations as they go along, rules nowhere to be found in the Bible and then have the brazen audacity to stamp Jesus' name on their fiction.  They then require that anyone involved with their “churches” or “ministries” adhere to their manmade nonsense or suffer, among other things, the consequences of not being considered to be a good Christian who is faithful to God. This type of manipulation has hurt many people and continues to hold many Christians in its grip. Who do we serve, God or man? We need to serve God and stop caring what these kind of people think about us. Why? The Bible couldn't be any clearer as we read:

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." 2Tim 3:16-17

What part of “all”, “perfect” and “thoroughly” don’t we understand?  We simply don’t need and therefore should reject the additions that men have added to the faith.

"According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."  2 Pet 1: 3-4

There's that word "all" again. The bottom line is this: We are lacking nothing in God’s written Word. Of course I am not saying that we will find instructions on how to fix our car in the Bible. Of course not. For things like that we have other books. But, to believe that we need the "spiritual" or "life" teachings of people who contradict the Bible is a grave error.  The Bible is not deficient in any way and is all that we will ever need on this earth to lead us into all things that pertain to life and godliness.

Be on guard. There are many popular books and other materials circulating today by a multitude of deceptive authors who try to substitute their own ungodly ideas in place of what the Bible teaches. Most of these teachers teach some truth which often causes Christians to drop their guards and receive (without question) the false things that they also teach.

So it is very important that we weigh everything that everyone teaches according to what the Bible says. We must also find out what the whole Bible teaches about a particular subject. We cannot just lift verses out of context and apply them to whatever we want. We cannot overemphasize one verse to the exclusion of what the rest of the Bible teaches on the same subject. And remember, just because someone may be knowledgeable in one area or subject does not automatically mean that they will be accurate regarding other subjects. Please, check the Bible for yourself!

As God said to Pharaoh, "Let My People Go"

Many professing Christian churches today are unbiblical slave camps that exist to serve the agendas of men. These "churches" can be likened to a modern day Egypt and the alleged “men of God" in the pulpits can be likened to Pharaohs.
